FAQ

FAQ: How does the Wideboy shutter work?
A: The
manual which is the pdf document shows the fundamental operation of a swing lens camera  and includes the explanation of the "shutter"
Q: Could I have a sample negative?
A: Download the
sample scans into an image editing program to see the working resolution. Expand to the equivalent of a 1m long print and examine the detail in the School sign ad the cars down the road. Allow for the fact that these were scanned at 300 PPI and the original file is 9.7mb
Q: Could I have a longer negative?
A: Yes - but it would then need a longer focal length lens. To explain this point it  should be noted that any swing lens camera is limited to approx. 120 degrees. This is since at the extremes of the scan, the lens will start looking at the inside of the body. The current design uses a 50 mm (nom) lens which produces a theoretical 360 degree scan of 2 x 50 x pi, or 314 mm, hence the usable 120 degrees is 314 x 120/360 or approx. 105 mm. If a 75 mm lens was employed, the negative would increase in length to 157 mm. A special  could be built to order and would provide 4 exposures per film
Q: Can I add a viewfinder and a filter?
A: Yes, you can. Checkout the
guide to personalization
