Phatboy

Mr & Mrs Wideboy gave birth in Early 2005 to Phatboy with an even bigger negative size.

He's a beast but he's beautiful. Negs are 160 x 50mm. Horizontal Angle of View 110 deg, Vertical 35. A 75mm 4 Element lens. Double exposure facility. Read on.

So what, pray tell, is a Phatboy?

The Phatboy is a budget-priced medium format panoramic camera made from lightweight mdf. It's designed and made here in the UK by a small team of enthusiasts buried deep in the Cotswolds.

Phatboy is a lo-fi lo-tech fixed focus panoramic camera with only one aperture: F16 so you need to own a lightmeter. Any lightmeter. It takes 4 frames on a normal 120 mm medium format film each around 50mm high and a massive 160mm wide. The angle of view is 110 degrees horizontal x 35 degrees vertical

If you already own a Holga or a Lomo or a Hasselblad or a Canon 20D, then you really should own a Phatboy too! Maybe you’ve just spent huge amounts of dosh on a see everything, do-everything, digital camera - keep it, treasure it but leave it in the cupboard or in your bag.

You'll never more fun than when you’re with your Phatboy.
